Camarilla

As the site of the Convention of Thorns and a bastion of Ventrue power, Britain has been firmly Camarilla since there was such an organization. The Sabbat who were not destroyed by Mithras' meticulous campagin to eliminate them fled when the power of the Lasombra was broken by the formation of the Anglican Church. Since then, there has been little or no Sabbat presence in England, and only minimal in Ireland and Scotland.

However, Britain also has lost much to the Sabbat. The American Revolution was a huge defeat and is credited with the continuation of the hated sect. Were it not for the Sabbat Civil War, the Americas might have been lost completely. In addition, the control of the Camarilla is less absolute in the far flung reaches of the Empire and in the East the sect has yet to establish any sort of stronghold, though efforts in newly acquired Hong Kong are coming along.

Gangrel

The history of conflict between the Brujah and Ventrue is only matched by the long history of such between the Gangrel and the blue bloods. Since the Middle Ages, this clan has had deep roots among the Scottish and Welsh, often fighting side by side with their brethren against English oppression. This has more than once put them in alliance with the Brujah, though relations have been strained since the death of William Wallace (whose betrayel by Gangrel backed Robert the Bruce has been a point of contention for centuries).

Toreador

The influence of this clan has been hurt since the formation of the Anglican Church, which shook their influence almost as much as it did that of the Lasombra, but they have been slowly regaining strength since last century. Many members of the clan were drawn to England during the romantic period and there is again a respectable presence within the Empire, though industrialism has pushed many of the elders into perpetual melancholia.

Malkavian

They have always been there, lurking in the background, though their degree of influence has remained a mystery. Some blame members of the clan for the periodic bouts of madness among members of the royal family and, when the Ripper terrorizes Whitechapel, many are not entirely convinced that the madness of the killer is entirely his own. Regardless, there presence, though not prominent, is always felt.

Nosferatu

This clan has always had a notable and undeniable presence within Britain. They tend not to take sides in the political struggles of the other clans, however, preferring to remain in the shadows, gather their intelligence, and offer assistance during strategic periods. This has led many to consider them warily, but even the most cynical kindred cannot deny their assistance, when it is offered.
