Motley Krewe

History

The name of this pack is a rather unfortunate coincidence of fate. The elder Brujah of New Orleans up until his destruction was named Callough Motley and his brood was often referred to as "Motley's Krewe", in the tradition of naming packs "krewes" after the social organizations of New Orleans which organize Carnival. It wasn't until the 1980s, when a flamboyant rock and roll band by the name Motley Crue emerged that it became something of a joke, particularly given the stereotype of Brujah. This tends to irritate the eldest two members to no end and is considered a great way to pick a fight with the eldest.

The pack was founded when Motley led his brood to become Sabbat, in an attempt to free himself of the orders of his sire in Baton Rouge, but the foundation of the current pack could be more accurately placed with his destruction by the betrayel of the pack's current ductus, his childe Bonifazio Fiori. Since then, the pack has struggled to find a place among the New Orleans Sabbat and advance its own Loyalist agenda. Its rites tend to have a slightly Jewish flavor to them, due to the pack priest's heritage, but the creation rites tend to focus on the candidate proving their sincerity and dedication to the cause, rather than center on mystical or religious elements. In general, the pack is rather humanist in outlook and still clings to its radical philosophical and political roots.

Most of the pack's influence, such as it is, centers on its ties to organized labor and, hence, organized crime. This tends to bring them into conflict with the Serpents fairly often, though they've done an admirable job of carving a niche out of territory that was firmly under Setite control until their arrival. They also have acquired a reasonable amount of leverage in liberal and populist political circles, which has allowed them to pull surprising strings at times.
