Chandra Behari

12th Generation Lasombra Neonate

History

Chandra was always a viciously ambitious man, willing to do whatever necessary to achieve his own goals. It was through extortion, threats, and outright theft that he acquired the money to come to the States to attend university and there was considerable suspicion concerning his acceptance to the Harvard business school. He did, however, possess a sharp intellect to match his amoral pragmatism and so he was able to maintain his rising fortunes.

After a short stint as an executive in Boston, he gathered capital to invest in his own interests, which were mostly focused on the promising petrochemical industry on the gulf. He moved to New Orleans in the late 1960s and used his guile and keen mind to build a fortune in oil by the middle of the 1970s. His success was noted by Paul Delacroix, who was desperate to shore up his own economic power base after the death of his sire and the ensuing fight for control of the city. Choosing his time and arranging affairs to his liking, he approached Chandra with his offer just as the FEC and several other government agencies began to move on information provided anonymously to them of Behari's shadier business practices.

Chandra refused to believe any of it, at first, and his vanity had him convinced that he could beat the charges being levelled against him. However, with a little more prodding and after time for the gravity of his situation to really sink in, he conceded. Since he'd already moved most of his money and many of his more lucrative holdings to holding companies, Swiss banks, and middle men, picking up the pieces of his enterprises after his faked death in a car acident wasn't difficult. He was also determined to make the best of his new predicament and found quite quickly that it bore a number of advantages that he could use to further his ambition.

He's been quite canny about following the ups and downs of the industry he's in and has diversified his interests to include electronics and retail outlets, allowing him to ride out the more difficult moments of the oil trade. He's also gathered a small herd of women whom he's 'saved' from prostitution and turned into his bound blood dolls, to see to him and serve his vanity. This is the one thing that he's been unable to cope with in his new form: the inability to see his own reflection. He's become very obsessive about his appearance and has his harem fawn over him constantly, seeing to it.

Personality

Behari is a supremely self-absorbed and egotistical person, but is fairly good at hiding it when he needs to. His lack of consideration and moral conscience border on the psychopathic, but he's managed to hold onto enough of his humanity (such as it was) to keep from becoming totally degenerate. It is likely he will adopt a path if he is to survive the next few decades, and given his ethical laxity, it will likely be his sire's path rather than that of his 'brother', Garcia.

Relationships

Chandra has a fair amount of respect for his sire, though not enough that he wouldn't betray him or undermine his interests if it served his own goals. He is similarly lacking in any sort of real loyalty towards the other Lasombra or the other members of his pack. The bonds of Viniculum demand a certain loyalty, but he's adept at justifying minor betrayels.

He does, however, have a more real respect for Legba and his childe, whom he sees as businessmen of his own ilk. He's been trying to quietly make acquaintances of them so that he can expand his business from its current shady realm of questionable legality into full-fledged blackmarketeering. He's not been particularly successful so far, probably because the Serpents are wary of any interest by the Lasombra.

Of the Cathari Setites and the other Albigensians, he is relatively dismissive, considering them as little more than degenerate monsters. For the most part, they don't have enough impact on things he finds important to be worth the thought. He is similarly disposed towards the Acadians in Houma and Lafayette.

The Camarilla, particularly those in Biloxi, however, are a different story. As they interfere with his businesses, they are a concern. He isn't above cutting a deal with them for his own purposes, but has no idea how to approach them or, how to do so in a manner that wouldn't lead to his destruction. So, he merely plays his part in the grand scheme to dominate the local economy according to his sire's wishes and just keeps his eyes open for new opprotunities.

Influence

Chandra controls his business interests through a vast network of ghouls, Dominated go-betweens, phone calls, emails, memos, lawyers, and in absentia votes at Board of Director meetings. He's done a fair job of keeping from being noticed so far, but it is likely that somebody is going to look into the never seen stockholder who seems to dictate how the company is run sooner or later.
