This area was part of the territory held firmly by the Acadian Sabbat since their arrival in the 1760s. However, during the Civil War (in 1864), part of the town which included the haven of the Tzimisce Archbishop and his revenant family was burned to the ground and the stragglers were picked off by a lone Gangrel who had been following the army since its arrival, for just such an eventuality. Old Pete, as he was called, moved into the town and, from that day forward, has repelled any attempt by the Sabbat to take it back and several attempts by the Brasseaux in Lafayette to avenge the branch of the family he wiped out.
To the annoyance of the Camarilla, however, Old Pete seems to have no interest in furthering the efforts of Orlando to take New Orleans or even the other Acadian strongholds. The old Gangrel seems content to rule over his little city and ignore the rest of the world. This has led Orlando to consider attempting to oust him in order to place someone more accomodating in charge, but as of yet he's been unable to spare the manpower needed or risk the resulting fallout with the other Camarilla princes in the area.
