Cabal of Pure Thought

Although not formally a convention of the Order since its dissolution in the early decades of this century, the Cabal still exists as a few stubborn members who refuse to admit their ejection from the institution they helped to found. Along with the Artificers, they represent the core of the Masonic covenant, and strive to remind the still existing conventions of their religious roots and the obligations of their faith. While their task becomes increasingly difficult as the modern age wears on, those who remain refuse steadfastly to admit defeat.

The few Gabrielites who linger meet regularly at the chapterhouse of Westminster Abbey to plan their return to the leadership of the Order. This puts them in close proximity to their primary opponent, the Ivory Tower, who shares similar roots as they and who have taken their place in the scheme of things. The Cabal is not helpless, however, having amassed massive amounts of political and social influence in Britian, which they use to great effect in undermining the secular concerns of the Order. However, as years pass, this web of influence shrinks, as do the ranks of the Gabrielites, and many speculate that it is only a matter of time until the Cabal passes into history with the Craftmasons.
