Louisiana Bayous Voodoo Practitioners

In the deepest swamps of the Louisiana Bayou, the true practitioners of voodoo still meet. Here, the owners of tourist shops catering to the niavete of outsiders and peddling fake tonics meet and perform the real ceremonies. They summon the spirits of the dead, Loa and baka alike, and allow themselves to be ridden, like cheval have for the past two hundred years. They possess great power and are respected and feared by those who have lived in this city long enough to know where the true power lies.

Practitioners can be mediums, hedge magicians, vampires, or just normal mortals. The only prerequisite is a respect for the Loa and their ways. Voodoo is a rich religion, not just a thinly developed magic system for a game or a characiture presented to tourists and in mass media. With influences from native american, african, and european faiths, it is a complex and developed spiritual belief with tremendous potential for roleplay.
