Crescent City strives to provide a darker, more ominous environment, where the players are forced to act through subtlty and guile rather than overt actions due to the overwhelming forces at work to promote the city's deep-rooted corruption. Social and political interaction is encouraged over 'hack and slash', primarily due to the widely varying power levels of the characters. Out of character, a small staff and intricate code allows the players to resolve most disputes and further their own plots without needing the assistance of a judge. Role-play is encouraged over roll-play, with dice provided primarly to settle disputes when absolutely necessary. Rules are flexible, allowing for dramatic interpretation and more room to develop the characters.
